the departure
Departure picture of Team Portugal on December 2, 2021.
In all posts related to this championship, I used relevant hashtags and tagged the Portuguese sports institutions, as well as the organizer of the event (IFMA).

first post in-loco
Introducing the Portuguese National Team competing at IFMA World Muaythai Championship 2021, which took place in Bangkok, Thailand, in December 2021.

engaging and informing the public
The day before the fights, I would post individual portraits of the athletes who would fight the next day. Despite filming the fights (whilst photographing them simultaneously) and posting on the federation's Facebook page in real-time, I would always suggest they watched the live streaming on the official championship page in case something happened. I also mentioned the time when the fights started in both Thai and Portuguese time zones.
On Instagram, the individual pictures would be posted in carrousel.

right before the fights
In order to get the public up-to-date on the fights throughout the day, while the athletes were warming up I would either film a short video or take pictures to post on the stories right before their fights.
video
Example of a post of a video of a fight filmed on a mobile phone (Huawei P30 Pro) at the neutral corner of the ring. Despite the announcement post suggesting the public head over to the official championship Facebook page to watch the live videos, these posts would still attract attention and engagement to the federation's page, as it can be seen below.

daily report of pictures and text
At the end of each day, I would select the best pictures of the warm-up and fights and then would edit them on Lightroom. I would then create an album on Facebook and write a summary of each fight to help contextualize the pictures.
The post on Instagram would consist of a photo grid of the pictures with the same summary. Another photo grid would be posted on the stories to inform that the pictures could be seen on Facebook.

individual posts of the medallists
For a few circumstances, not all categories had a podium celebration in this championship, so instead of publishing the video of the podium of each athlete on Facebook - as I usually do -, I took individual pictures of the athletes.
In this case, only the female athlete, Matilde Melo, had a podium so I included the video I shot on the mobile phone.

final post
A post with all the medallists and a copy that mentions all the other athletes that did not make it to the podium but still did a great job. This post had a surprising number of impressions, reach, and interactions.
This was the first time I did an edit and a Facebook cover with all the medallists. It revealed to be useful for the federation's website as a welcome banner as well. Since the feedback was good, I also did it in the following championships.

and it's a wrap!
When the team arrives in Portugal, one of the federation's office workers takes a picture. It's usually a very popular post.

conclusion
Throughout the days of the championship, we can observe an overall increase in impressions.
Although the albums do not show many interactions, I have many times found throughout social media pictures reposted either by the athletes themselves or by family members, which is very rewarding. Thousands of pictures were taken, but I edited and published a total of 411. Visit some of the pictures here in this portfolio. The rest is available on the federation's Facebook page.
Stories on Instagram reached a new record number of views and mentions. There are two full highlights dedicated to this championship which I invite you to watch.
The team departed on December 2 and arrived on December 13. Selecting the dates December 1 to December 14, these are the insight results:
